In 2002, Duffy was elected as Chairman of the CME Board of Directors, a position he held until the merger of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in 2007. Following the merger, the combined company was renamed CME Group, and Duffy continued to serve as Chairman of the Board.
In 2016, Terry Duffy was appointed as President and CEO of CME Group, in addition to his role as Chairman.
