Bob Frenzel

Robert (Bob) Frenzel was the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Xcel Energy Inc., a major U.S. electric and natural gas utility company. 

Bob Frenzel assumed the role of President and CEO of Xcel Energy in November 2020, succeeding Ben Fowke, who retired after serving as the CEO for a decade. Prior to becoming the CEO, Frenzel held other executive positions within the company, including:

  1. Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Xcel Energy from 2016 to 2020.
  2. Vice President and Treasurer of the company from 2013 to 2016.

Before joining Xcel Energy, Frenzel worked at Luminant, a competitive power generation subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings (EFH), where he held various leadership roles, including:

  1. Chief Financial Officer of Luminant.
  2. Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at EFH.

Frenzel began his career as an investment banker at Bear Stearns and J.P. Morgan, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions in the energy and power sectors.

Under Frenzel's leadership, Xcel Energy has continued its commitment to providing clean, reliable, and affordable energy to its customers. The company has set ambitious goals to reduce carbon emissions and achieve 100% carbon-free electricity by 2050.
