David B. Sewell was the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WestRock Company, a leading provider of differentiated paper and packaging solutions.
David Sewell assumed the role of President and CEO of WestRock Company on March 15, 2021, succeeding Steve Voorhees, who retired due to health reasons. Before joining WestRock, Sewell held various executive and leadership positions in the packaging and consumer goods industry. Some of his previous roles include:
- Chief Operating Officer (COO) at The Sherwin-Williams Company, a global producer of paints, coatings, and related products. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the company's global operating segments, supply chain, and other key functions.
- President of Sherwin-Williams' Performance Coatings Group, where he led the company's industrial wood, protective and marine, coil, packaging, and automotive coatings businesses.
- Vice President of Corporate Planning, Development, and Human Resources at Valspar Corporation, a global coatings manufacturer that was acquired by Sherwin-Williams in 2017.
Sewell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Harvard Business School. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, a top international business school.
