Kumar Mahadeva

Kumar Mahadeva is the founder and former CEO of Cognizant Technology Solutions, a multinational technology company specializing in IT services and consulting.

Born in Sri Lanka, Mahadeva received his undergraduate degree from the University of London and later earned a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard University. He worked for AT&T and McKinsey & Company before starting Cognizant.

Mahadeva founded Cognizant in 1994 as a division of Dun & Bradstreet, a leading global provider of business decisioning data and analytics. Cognizant initially focused on providing software development, maintenance, and integration services. In 1996, during the internet boom, the company significantly expanded its range of services and client base.

Under Mahadeva's leadership, Cognizant became one of the fastest-growing IT services companies. He is widely recognized for his strategic decisions, such as focusing on high-quality customer service and maintaining a strong company culture, which contributed significantly to Cognizant's success.

In 2003, Mahadeva retired from his role as the CEO of Cognizant. Since then, the company has continued to grow and is now ranked among the top IT services companies in the world.
