John Dwight was one of the two founders of the company now known as Church & Dwight. The company was originally established in 1846 as John Dwight and Company. John Dwight and his brother-in-law, Dr. Austin Church, developed a way to manufacture sodium bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, which was the company's first product. This product later became famous under the brand name "Arm & Hammer."
John Dwight was a pioneer in the consumer packaged goods industry. His efforts, along with those of Dr. Austin Church, laid the foundation for Church & Dwight, which has grown into a major consumer goods company. Today, Church & Dwight manufactures a wide range of personal care, household, and specialty products under various brand names.
It's worth noting that John Dwight passed away a long time ago, in 1893. His contributions to the industry, however, have had a lasting impact. The company he co-founded, Church & Dwight, continues to be a leader in the consumer packaged goods industry.
