Roger C. Hochschild has been a prominent figure in the financial services sector. As of my last update in September 2021, he was serving as the CEO and President of Discover Financial Services.
Hochschild joined Discover in 1998 as Senior Vice President of Marketing and was later promoted to Executive Vice President of Card Marketing and Operations in 1999. In 2001, he was named Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Strategic Officer. In 2004, he was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer of Discover, roles he held until becoming CEO in 2018.
Before joining Discover, Hochschild worked at MBNA America Bank from 1994 to 1998, where he was a Senior Executive Vice President. Prior to MBNA, he was a partner at Booz Allen Hamilton, a management consulting company.
Under Hochschild's leadership, Discover has made significant strides in customer service and innovation. He led the company's transition to become one of the first major credit card issuers to provide FICO® Credit Scores for free to cardmembers. He also guided Discover through the spin-off from Morgan Stanley, establishing it as an independent publicly traded company.
Hochschild holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Georgetown University and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
