Steven Rales

Steven M. Rales is an American billionaire businessman, and the co-founder and chairman of the Danaher Corporation. He was born on March 31, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Rales and his brother, Mitchell, founded Danaher in 1984. The company's name was inspired by a tributary of the South Fork Flat Head River in western Montana, where the brothers often went fishing. The Danaher Corporation is a global science and technology innovator committed to helping its customers solve complex challenges and improving quality of life around the world. Its world-class brands are leaders in some of the most demanding and attractive industries, including life sciences, medical diagnostics, environmental and applied solutions.

The Rales brothers grew the company through a strategy they referred to as "Kaizen," based on the Japanese business philosophy of continuous improvement. This strategy has involved buying companies and then using the Kaizen method to improve their efficiency and profitability. This approach led to substantial growth for Danaher.

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Steven Rales serves as the chairman of the Danaher Corporation, while his brother Mitchell Rales serves as a member of the Danaher Board.

In addition to his work at Danaher, Steven Rales is also known for his involvement in film production. He is the co-founder of Indian Paintbrush, a film production company. The company has produced several notable films, including "The Darjeeling Limited," "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and "Isle of Dogs."

Steven Rales is a graduate of DePauw University and the American University Washington College of Law. He has been recognized for his contributions to business and philanthropy and, as of 2021, is listed as one of the richest people in the world by Forbes.
