W. Nicholas Howley

W. Nicholas Howley is an American businessman who co-founded TransDigm Group Incorporated, an aerospace manufacturing and design company that specializes in producing highly engineered aerospace components and systems. TransDigm Group was founded in 1993 by W. Nicholas Howley and Douglas W. Peacock, and it is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.

W. Nicholas Howley has had an extensive career in the aerospace industry. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and later completed a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School.

Before founding TransDigm Group, Howley held various positions in the aerospace industry. He worked for the Eaton Corporation, a power management company, where he served as the Vice President of Aerospace Operations. He also held leadership positions at the Cleveland Pneumatic Company and the Abex/NWL Aerospace Group.

In 1993, Howley and Douglas W. Peacock co-founded TransDigm Group, with a vision to create a leading aerospace components company. Under Howley's leadership, TransDigm Group grew rapidly, both organically and through strategic acquisitions. The company went public in 2006 and has continued to expand its product portfolio and global presence.

W. Nicholas Howley served as the President and CEO of TransDigm Group from its founding until 2017 when he transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman. In this capacity, he continued to provide strategic guidance and support to the company's leadership team.

Throughout his career, Howley has been recognized for his leadership and business acumen. In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious "Aerospace & Defense CEO of the Year" by Aviation Week & Space Technology, a leading industry publication.
