B. Wayne Hughes is an American businessman and philanthropist best known as the co-founder and chairman of Public Storage, the largest self-storage company in the United States. Born on September 30, 1933, in Gotebo, Oklahoma, Hughes grew up in southern California and attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1957.
